Job Description:
Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment: School of Electrical & Information Engineering. Position: Electrical Technician (Peromnes grade TE10). The School of Electrical and Information Engineering is looking for a suitable person to fill the position in the technical workshop for an Electrical Technician
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintenance of electrical equipment; Fault finding and troubleshooting on electrical circuits; Simulation of the electrical circuit according to specification
- Refurbishment of old panels and modifying them with new efficient components; Building and designing circuit according to specifications given by students and other lab users
- Installation of Solar panels and rewiring to balance the load; Use of different electrical testing instruments and new advanced software
- Reading and understanding existing circuit diagrams already in use; Undertaking various administrative duties in the lab
Job Requirements:
- Attending meetings and making a valuable contribution to improve the facility
- Participating in the OSH committee and enforcing adherence of OSH practices at the labs. Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours)
- Experience in dealing with suppliers
- 5 years of Work-Related Experience in a Higher Learning Institution or a training centre
